Claude

★★★★★
AI assistant

Verdict: The assistant we run our businesses on — strongest at real work: coding, writing, long documents, and multi-step tasks via Claude Code.

Worth it for

  • Best-in-class coding and reasoning
  • Claude Code turns it into a doer, not a chatter
  • Handles long documents and big context well
  • Projects and memory features reduce re-explaining

Know going in

  • No meaningful free unlimited tier
  • No native image generation
  • Heavy use means paid plans — budget for it

This is the tool this site runs on, so take the disclosure with the verdict: we’d pay for Claude twice before paying for most tools once.

Where it earns the rating: anything that looks like real work product. Drafting and editing that doesn’t read like AI. Code that compiles. Long-document analysis that doesn’t lose the plot by page thirty. And — the separator — Claude Code, which executes multi-step work on your actual files and systems instead of pasting suggestions for you to babysit.

Where it isn’t the answer: quick visual generation (no images), and casual users who’d be fine on any free tier. If your use is “occasionally ask questions,” the cheaper options below will serve.

Practitioner note: start on the standard paid plan, and move to Claude Code the week you catch yourself copy-pasting its output into your own terminal or editor. That’s the signal you’re ready for the real thing.
