Choose n8n when the people maintaining automations aren’t engineers, when you want a visual map of what runs where, or when per-execution pricing on the alternatives starts to sting. Its AI nodes have matured into a genuinely good way to bolt models onto business workflows — summarize-then-route, extract-then-file, draft-then-approve.
Skip it when you have engineers and version control — scripted automations are easier to test, review, and blame. And mind the spaghetti risk: name your workflows, document the weird ones, or in six months you’ll be archaeologists in your own automation.
