Workflow

Ask your books anything

Turn transaction exports into a finance analyst you can text: plain-language questions about cash flow, spending, and trends, plus a scheduled weekly report.

Tools in this workflow

  • OpenClaw
  • Spreadsheets

♻ Loopable — built to run on a schedule (e.g. a daily task)

Goal: answers in seconds instead of a pivot table every time someone asks “how are we doing?”

  1. Feed it data, not credentials — export transactions from your bank or accounting tool into a folder or sheet your OpenClaw can read. Keep it read-only; the assistant analyzes money, it doesn’t move it.
  2. Categorize once — it proposes categories for everything, you correct the handful it gets wrong, and the corrections stick.
  3. Ask in English — “what did we spend on software last quarter?”, “which client pays slowest?”, “are margins drifting?” — each answer comes with the rows behind it so you can verify.
  4. The Friday report — a scheduled job sends cash position, burn vs. plan, unusual transactions, and receivables aging. Same format every week, so drift is visible.

Anomalies deserve a faster loop: have it flag any transaction outside a category’s normal range the day it lands, not at month-end. Runs well alongside Small-business autopilot if you’re operating lean.
